What does it mean to be an euoropean?

That's not an easy question. I think an european nation is this nation which has participated in in the european history from hundreds of years or more. It's often said that europeans are advanced, educated people with high standart of life. In this way they often say that Bulgaria is not a european country altogether. I don't like that attitude. Maybe my opinion is influenced a lot from my bulgarian origin. I think that the most important criterion for defining an "european" nation is its influence and participation in the european culture and history from centuries ago. To be an european means to have the sense of such of a man, the sense of the european culture and the feeling you belong to european's society.
